Verbatim InSight Portable USB Hard Drive 320GB or 500GB, both too pricy

Aug 18, 2009
Verbatim has recently added a new very interesting gadget for your PC to their product range. It is an external hard drive, pretty decent one and enliven a bit with cool styling and some new useful features. At Verbatim they like to call it "the InSight Portable USB Hard Drive". InSight, as we shell call it, has option of choosing 320GB or 500GB model. Drive space is the only difference between both, but there are some distinctive attributes that make InSight more desirable that other external HDDs. Oh yeah, almost forgot, the InSight is compatible with Mac also.

First things first, InSight is designed so nicely, that almost certainly its owner is going to be asked what it is every time he pulls the small dimension portable HDD out of his pocket. The premium piano black finish is fantastic and that curve on it is just amazing. Still, what about the features? The one that Verbatim has introduced to Insight is an "Always On" 32 x 128 LED display. It shows info about drive name and how many of free space is available, and its use is quite arguable, because why would you want it to be always "ON"?

Now down to Earth, both InSight models rev at 5400rpm, have 8MB cache, USB 2.0 port and a cable. Functionality is improved by included as standard Nero BackItUp Essentials.

320GB InSight costs 119.99 USD, 500GB – 149.99 USD. A quick Amazon search helped me to work out that you can easily get 320 portable gigabytes for much less than a hundred dollars and 500GB external hard drive for just above a hundred. So all extras come for about 30 USD which definitely worth it if other people will see the InSight in your hands.
