How many criteria has a TV to match before you suggest buying it? Ideally there always were two of them - screen size and picture quality. Recently we've started to look sharply at the amount of electricity any display uses and at the stock price of the thing of course. Since there is organic electroluminescence technology or OLED that is brewing its popularity every single day and even moving from home to portable gadgets, we have an ultimate solution for the picture quality and energy consumption issues, but price for an OLED gadget is way up higher over LCD. So, what do you think Toshiba contemplates for their OLED project, better picture or lower price? At this moment it is obvious they were building their OLED wallpaper under "The bigger - the better" motto leaving no info on price so far.Toshiba's OLED TV wallpaper is a completely insane thing. Imagine a screen as big as fits in your house, a bendable one and as thin as paper. Well actually it is paper after all, but it is a sort of paper that is able to display perfectly colored and contrasted OLED quality picture. Mind you TV wallpaper is going to use pretty much a tenth of electricity that LCD or plasma panel would devour. Creating a stable sample of this sort of paper will take Toshiba next few years.
As a product, Toshiba's TV wallpaper will be folding since paper is thin and bandable and can be used as a light source just like a light bulb. Looking forward of having one, I don't think it should be too much bigger than to display HD picture in a normal sized room, not accustomed for home theatre. And the very final outlook for TV wallpaper is that it could be a first ever handy solution for panoramic views. There are cameras that can shoot 360 degree angle but there is no displaying hardware to match.
