Sony presents BRAVIA 3D LCD TVs (w/video)

Mar 09, 2010
Today the day has started with a big announcement from Sony. At the event which took place in Japan they have unveiled 12 shiny new BRAVIA 3D HDTVs. 12 new models are divided into LX900, HX900, HX800, HX700 and NX800 line-ups letting you choose the amount of features you want to pay for. What we are interested in is the LX900 – top flight 3D HDTV range loaded with some never seen before features.

So, the biggest Sony BRAVIA LX900 3D HDTV has 60 inch screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution and things like “Intelligent People Sensor” and “4-speed crosstalk reduction”. These are some of those mindboggling features I’ve been talking about. Crosstalk reduction means that the picture fed to the screen is adjusted for best experience for left and right eye separately. All this happens in the way I cannot understand hence explain, so if you have a clear vision on that, feel free to share it in the comments. Intelligent People Sensor is a bit easier. Basically it would change brightness of the picture depending on the environment light intensity and even direction of sound depending on where you happen to be in relation to the devise. The latest BRAVIA can even tell if you are actually watching TV rather than looking somewhere else and would dim the picture if you are not. Leave it alone for a minute and it will shut off all by itself to cut your electricity bill a bit. Try and stare at the full HD picture too close and it will throw a message telling you to back off because you hurt your eyes too much.

Of course, there is much more to the new BRAVIA 3D range. Depending on the model they are equipped with wire and wireless LAN, HDMI inputs, all the rest of it plus two pairs of 3D glasses, black, grey or pink.

Sony BRAVIA 3D HDTVs prices in Japan vary from about 2,100 dollars for 40 inch HX700 and go all the way up to 6,500 for 60 inch LX900.
