Stay tuned with a new Skype to come, making it possible to call from your Apple iPhone. The myth that Skype on the phone is not possible is busted. The Skype iPhone application works the same way it does on your PC, allowing you to chat with your friends being in your contact list, and also you can make free phone calls to your contacts over WiFi as well as Skype out calls. The new service makes it possible for users to make free calls to Skype users, but will charge for calls made to other numbers. You can mute the line, go on hold, or put the call on speakerphone, during a call. Speaking about the voice (VoIP) functionality, the AJAX interface acts as a remote control for your computer where both the SoonR service and Skype are installed. You should not install anything on your phone since SoonR Talk uses a browser supporting AJAX. You should login into SoonR website. This client uses 128 Bit SSL to communicate with the SoonR service. When logged in, SoonR can detect both the browser and class of handset to be used. Once you are logged in and connected, you can view your Skype friends using the AJAX client and then click on your friend you want to talk to. SoonR Talk will tell your PC to call your mobile phone using SkypeOut. Then SoonR Talk will instruct Skype to call your buddy over the Skype IP network, placing you in a conference. If your friend is not online, you can still call his mobile phone or landline. When you have an incoming chat, SoonR Talk's AJAX interface will auto refresh your page for getting new chat responses.
SoonR Talk's AJAX interface will also refresh presence information for your friends. Mobile calls made through a cellular network are not the same with what was Skype’s solution. Skype transforms your voice into data and delivers it on the internet. The iPhone users will be able to use its internet telephony service to make calls, but the only way is to use wi-fi, not the mobile network. So your call quality will be partly depending on strength of wireless networks. iPod Touch users will need earphones with a fitted microphone. Some mobile Voip applications allow users to make internet telephone calls over wi-fi and the cellular network. In the case of Skype, while calling another Skype user will be free, calling an actual phone number via the service will pay for a call.
Iphone users will not be able to make Skype calls, either to Skype contacts or to landlines, over the mobile network. Skype's screens are well arranged and use the iPhone's ability to add filters, for example, to classify your contacts alphabetically, or by who stays online. Chat is available via Skype's flagship feature is its VoIP calling that's free to other Skype users and a cheap per-minute fee to landlines. There are other Skype's features like video conferencing with the ability to get a second Skype call having been left out. There is a feature that is the ability to accept incoming conference calls. While you will not be able to initiate a call, you will be able to jump on one if your friend invites you in. Skype for iPhone will be soon available for download from Apple's iTunes.
But, this is not a 100% Skype-to-Skype call, since one part of the call is using the PSTN to call your mobile, for example your iPhone. Consequently, you will use some of your Skype Out credits to call one of your Skype friends. You can then reach friends and family abroad from your iPhone. A Skype iPhone application will give more visibility that you can use your iPhone for VoIP. Skype’s iPhone application has been successfully tested. You can’t make telephone calls over 3G or use the chat messaging feature.
