Drive over water with Scamander RRV

Jun 17, 2009
Designed by Peter Wheeler, this cross country vehicle appears to be capable of driving wherever you want. That was a dream of its designer to come true before he died. It sounds unbelievable but this all-terrain vehicle called Scamander RRV can be driven both off road and on the water.

Peter Wheeler had always a passion to drive fast and with no limitations. This aggressively looking off-road vehicle is capable of housing 4 people and was designed to combine lightweight and simplicity.

His designer wanted to make something special, an alternative to what we are used to and apparently he managed to do so. This rapid response car features is powered by a 2.0 liter Ford Zetec engine but for the end product a 4.6 liter Rover V8 was supposed to be used.

The Scamander RRV is composed of plastic pods which are filled with foam and are fixed to a central aluminum tub. This marvelous off-roader is capable of keeping weight of 2425 Lbs. The Scamander RRV also includes 35 inch diameter tires working in the same manner as on a tractor including removable paddles for rear driven wheels.

The driver of this beast sits centrally with passengers seating behind him with a pickup styled bed under its plastic hatch while its canopy enables a high visibility. A remote control unit is now under construction for its distant operation with you choosing where to park it.

The Scamander RRV comes equipped with individual braking systems to make each wheel working separately and enable a better traction. The driver has a visibility of almost 300 degree field of vision while observing your road through five windows including its huge windshield.

However, the future of this off-rider is unclear, since the project was privately funded by its designer.
