It seems to be unbelievable that not too long ago there was no such notion as a pixel. However before the invention of photography artificial pixels (short form for picture elements) simply did not exist. As regards the wide spread usage of the word "pixel" it wasn't until the appearance of personal computers and digital cameras. At present there are several generations of designers who can not imagine modern world without pixels. Due to this fact this single common component of an image finds its way onto non traditional objects. Thus Cristian Zuzunaga, a graduate from the UK's Royal College of Arts, has recently designed a Pixel couch. According to the available information this couch will be produced by Danish manufacturer Kvadrat and sold through Moroso. As far as the gadget itself is concerned it represents quite a usual couch that has a traditional shape. The only difference of given concept is its coloration. Thus it seems that this couch is composed of many varicolored pixels.
I would say that this gadget is too simple. Yet it would probably attract the attention of all your guests. However I do not think that many people will intend to put such a couch in their living room.
