Pico drive protects your data

Feb 04, 2008

It's quite an understandable fact that people who have a USB flash drive sometimes uses it in order to keep some really important or even secret information. Nevertheless, no one can feel secured against losing such a small device. Because of this it would be better to find a way to protect your data from unauthorized access.

Most USB flash drives do not come with any sort of data protection, so losing your flash drive might be more disastrous than you think if it falls into the wrong hands. The Pico Drive ST is different since it comes with AES 256-bit hardware encryption method. It ensures that anyone who comes across your lost USB flash drive (on purpose or otherwise) will have a pretty hard time cracking it to access the contents within. It will come with a maximum 8GB of memory and will be compatible with both Windows and Mac platforms, being Ready Boost - compatible. Moreover, you can use Pico drive even with your Sony Play station 3 (PS3) in order to save your game details and prevent somebody to get them.

To my mind it was a great idea to design such a device with the data protection function. Due to this invention we can stop worrying about somebody's access to our "secret" information. As a small disadvantage of this USB flash drive I would like to mention its design that is too simple and usual.

Seems like a good idea... as long as it is easy to use and encrypt. I recently played with another brand (can't remember the name for the life of me) and it was painful to use and encrypt your data. I strongly believe in encrypting anything you don't want others to see.

Since portable applications are becoming more and more popular, it is all the more important to secure data in USB flash drives.

Backing up frequently will ensure that we still have the data while encryption will avoid loss of data to the wrong hand.

Aesthetics aside it's a good idea to add a security feature like this not because of the fear of losing it but simply because it's good to get in the habit of securing data - especially sensitive data...
