Just after Pre 2 was briefly spotted at an online auction we got some new leaks from Palm. This time it’s a picture of specification list for a wireless Bluetooth keyboard for Palm tablet code-named “Topaz” which does’t sound like much, but there is some more to it. The keyboard itself is minimalistic and pretty good-looking in black, has a notebook-like layout with no NUM pad. It has a Chiclet design so the keyboard is pretty slim but lacks key lightning.Palm’s Topaz tablet will run webOS, probably a new version of it but anyway, so it has webOS-specific keys and a Windows key as well. Hopefully they won’t play the game HP played with Slate and corporate and public versions. But then if Topaz is going to run, say, Windows 7 Home Premium, I hope it will deliver the full functionality.
Topaz is due out the second half of 2011, more likely late second half of 2011, but it won’t come alone. By that time we also expect the Pre 2 to appear and Pixi’s successor code-named “Castle” - a low-end smartphone with touchscreen input only. All of the devices will expectedly operate over AT&T, Sprint and Verizon networks.
