MSI Wind U230 - netbook with a SIM slot built-in

Nov 30, 2009
MSI has presented its new netbook for the most mobile users. With its 12.1-inch size it brings a lot of possibilities to its users and looks cool. Not only it's white and glossy its display has 1920*1080 resolution which is full HD. Wouldn't expect something like this from a 12.1-inch netbook?

It is powered by an AMD Athlon Neo X2 which is one of the best chips for notebooks. 500GB hard drive makes the picture around this Wind U230 even better. And to complete the great possibilities of this netbook they have built in a great ATI Radeon HD 3200 videocard. You couldn't get this performance out of top notebooks a year ago and now these technologies are built into such a small netbook.

Its 5200 mA battery will give it 6 hours to operate and medium power consumption. And almost forgot: the star of the show - SIM card slot so your netbook can really go mobile.

Here you can check out the Wind U230 hands-on video:

It’s much more powerful than the net-books we’ve become accustomed to, but the price is a little bit more than other net-books, but not as much as you might expect. In my time with the Wind12 I’ve come to like it quite a bit, it has a nice large keyboard that’s makes typing easy and enjoyable. The dual core CPU does allow you to do many things at once without the system slowing down, as far as graphics, it does do HD content and it has an HDMI port as well, but don’t expect to be playing games on high settings.

Theres a few inaccuarcies in this blog post, screen resolution is 1366x768 @ 60Hz, the standard hard drive is 250Gb (500Gb isnt even an option other than aftermarket) and the battery run time on the 6cell is 3.5~ 4 hours which is the standard equipped battery. its still an great netbook and i am anxiously waiting for it to go on sale to get mine, but its not as good as this post portrays it to be :)

Wow I have to admit the U230 looks impressive, although 6 hours of battery life seems a bit on the low end compared to other netbooks.
