Malware Conficker Attack on April 1

Some sources inform about possible attack of a new worm on April Fool’s Day. It’s name is The Conficker or Downadup. Many security firms said that PC’s infected with Downadup may do something new on April 1, but a “global virus attack” is unlikely.

Will malware make a fool of millions of computer user or is the release date of Conficker worm just a red herring? Graham Cluley, a senior security consultant at Sophos think that possibility of malware attack on April 1 is also as well as April 2 or April 14. The Conflicker worm attacked in January with tricks to spread undetected. In a few days millions computers were infected.

The worm has his way through vulnerability in Microsoft software. Its goal was local area networks and to install rogue security software on infected computers. After attack Microsoft build a patch against virus. But users that haven’t installed it are open for infection. Also Conficker spreads through USB Flash drivers.

Some users’ think that they should turn off their computer on April1.This is a mistake. Here some ways to protect your computer from a virus. Be sure that you have antivirus protection up-to-date, security patches and firewalls in place and turned on. In this way virus won’t make you any harm. There are a lot of removal tools for computers that have been already infected. And always be sure in Web sites that you are visiting.
