- Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to something that was built able to think on its own. If you want to know more about the practicalities of it I would suggest wikipedia. If you are more interested in the concept of it, I would suggest reading Isaac Asimov's Scifi books focusing on robots, or watching AI, or the Bicentennial Man, both of which are based on his books. (So is I Robot, but the story is so warped it is a completely different story.)
