All urban drivers know that sometimes it is so hard to have a clear view when going reverse. It is very uncomfortable to turn your head backwards ant steer. You can use rearview mirror, but what if you drive a van, or the view is limited? This problem can be solved by installing a car navigation system, which gives you a full control over your car's surroundings. However, the prices for those systems are sky-high. Fortunately, Panasonic made a cheaper solution to problem of rear view.Panasonic GP-PD107 Rearview Monitor System consists of two parts. First, a small camera which must be placed on the back of the car (virtually, it can be placed wherever you want; the back of the car is just what it was made for). Second part is a bright 3.5-inch TFT display, which is showing a clear picture of what camera is "seeing" now, in a 320 x 240 resolution. Image from the camera, which has a resolution of almost 250 000 pixels, is able to show many details. The detection angles of camera are 134 degrees in a horizontal direction and 103° in a vertical direction, which means that you will clearly see all that is happening behind your car.
One of the interesting features is auto enabling when the shift lever is set to reverse position, which is very nice, since you will not keep this device functioning permanently, and will not forget to turn it on or off when needed. It comes with stand for screen, and strong double-faced adhesive tapes will keep it attached for good.
Thinking of rearview, maybe the mirror is not the worst idea. However, with camera in the back of your car, it is much more comfortable to see what is happening behind. Place it carefully though, because if it damages, a 356 dollar priced system will become completely useless.
