Solar Power Absorbing Paint

Jul 29, 2007
Hate painting your house every once in a while? Everybody hates that. But what would you do if the paint you cover your house with will bring you energy? New paint that absorbs solar power has been created in the New Jersey Institute of Technology. It is still in development but imagine, your house will be like a giant solar battery. Result: lower electricity bills.

This is one of the most interesting ideas in solar panel technology, solar panels made earlier cost a lot and they are difficult to install. The developers of solar power absorbing paint claim that they are developing a solar cell that can be painted on flexible plastic sheets.

The paint's base is Buckyball molecule, this is the one that makes all the magic work. The Buckyball molecule will capture electrons and flow them in a preferred direction. The magic molecule is linked to a nanotube.

The other advantage this paint has is that is much cheaper than the usual solar panels we used before. Besides, you apply it right to the walls and maybe the roof of your house. Of course then you have to connect them all together and to the home generator.

We really need to use renewable energy more because we run out of oil, trees, coal that we used to get energy, now the time has come to use something more than that.

Sounds so wonderful! I live in an old house and have made many improvements to try and make the house more energy efficent. I would love to know when this "next generation paint" will hit the market. Could you please let me know when and where it will be available? Thanks!!

Painters will double their profits when this paint hits the markets. I wonder how much it will cost though.
