Oryx Bike

Jul 25, 2007

Behold world! The future is here. Of course not with those nasty evil robots and stuff but with one great light bike named Oryx. It is a time trial bike that was designed by Harald Cramer. I believe this is one of the lightest, the most aerodynamic and fastest gadget bikes I have ever seen.

Thanks to its Y-frame shape this bike will hold the grip even on those bumps, however, are there any on the time trial stadiums? The bikes are all custom-made so there are now adjustments to height and stuff; it just perfectly fits you when you buy it.

It has a one-sided fork probably to make even lighter and it also has a chain-stay. They have made handle bars fork and stem from one piece which makes the bike very durable and strong and it is also simple to produce it like that.

The handle bars are connected to the frame via the frame-pivot and all the cables go through the frame in order not to create any wind resistance. Obviously the frame is empty inside because it is made of carbon composite that is baked into the frame in the molding process.

One of the most unusual innovations this gadget has is the crank which is designed as a ring mounted in the inside of the frame. They used two ball bearings in order to lessen the resistance.

A really fast bike for a really fast rider and it will certainly cost you a fortune if you want to buy it.
