Lenart Studios folks have come up with a new gadget that might be built into surfboards to help the surfers enjoy the waves and feel safer. The designers have gone very long way to integrate some piece of intelligence into a usual dumb surfboard. What they did in Lenart Studios is that they built in a display that uses radio and GPS technology that gives the surfer some information that he might need. First of all it is his/her location, rip currents and building swells. With its help the surfer will never get lost on those endless beaches. Well, why would you go far from the beach anyway?
The other feature that is built into this little gadget is a walkie-talkie function. With its help you can chat with other surfers who have this same thing on their surfboard.
The best and the most useful feature is that it has a sensor that is supposed to detect if you fell from the surfboard too harshly and if it detects something wrong it activates its communication system and sends out and emergency beacon. In the emergency signal it also adds your exact location.
However having these features it is not yet being produced full force and we don't if they will start making those for sale. One thing I know for sure, if this surfboard with built in Radio/GPS gadget will come out it will not cost you cheap but maybe will save your life some day.
