Flash memory is one of the best storage solutions for portable media players and cell phones. It turns out that two Apple's giant projects iPod and iPhone will take up to 25% of the flash memory market in nearest future if they will still be selling them at such rate. There are more than 500,000 iPhones sold in first two days and that's a pretty good achievement. However the problem is different. They will be consuming about a quarter of the entire flash memory market.
Well, you would think: So what? Why do I care? We will care when the prices of flash memory will go up. According to DRAMeXchange Company that researches market of Taiwan if the situation will not be corrected the prices on flash memory can go up.
They have suggested that it could take about two to three quarters and the manufacturers will raise their chip yield rates. This will not make us happy, those who is expecting any price cuts on Apple products. Not gonna happen. Or maybe they are mistaking and Apple will still make iPods and iPhones cheaper. Let's hope cause I don't want to buy and iPhone for the same money in 4 months, I want it cheaper.
