Pocket Garmin Nuvi GPS navigator with some additional functions

May 24, 2007
GPS navigators have become very popular nowadays. You can go to a part of country that you do not really know and still find places that you need or want to visit. Garmin Nuvi Vehicle GPS is the right thing for you to have. This gadget can do more things then just tell you where to go.

It comes with preloaded maps of USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico and it is its main function. Showing the way to go is all it is about, so it has a 4.3 inch touch-screen to show you all the info that you need. The screen is very bright and you will not miss your turn because of that.

It calculates the route pretty fast however it takes time for it to find out what direction you are going at the moment. So sometimes you just need to wait a bit. Garmin Nuvi 660 can also direct you using voice. So you will not need to look at the screen at all. There is a function of turn-by-turn voice directions.

You can also view the map in 3D not only in 2D. It makes it even more clear for you to understand where to go or where you are at the moment.

To make it even easier for you to drive it is Bluetooth enabled. This means that you can answer and make calls using this GPS navigator. It connects to your cell phone via Bluetooth and you get control of your phone. You can even add numbers to your cell phones contact list. All you need to do to receive a phone call just tap the screen and talk.

Nuvi 660 has also a cool function of a media player. Now you can listen to your favorite MP3's and audio books right in your car. You can also view JPG pictures on 4.3 inch display. It has FM transmitter built in and you can direct the music from Nuvi to your car's speakers. All you need to do is tune your radio to the needed station and enjoy music.

You would ask where to save data. And the answer is an SD memory card that you can plug into this gadget. It supports up to 4 GB SD cards and this is a lot of storage space. You can store a lot of audio files on that thing.

It is also pocket gadget and that means that it is small enough to fit into your pockets. It measures 4.9 x 2.9 x 0.9 inches. It comes with a 12 Volt adapter so you will not need to buy one in order to use it in your car. Some very useful accessories come with Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS navigator: USB interface cable, A/C charger, dashboard disc, carrying case and vehicle suction cup mount.

I got one for Christmas yesterday, and the only thing I don't like about it (and saying "don't" is a stretch) is that there is no carrying case. Oh well. I'll use my game boy one.

Here is what I think of Garmin Nuvi. It is a pretty damn good thing when you are in an unknown city for example. Minor issues which could be viewed as enhancements. However, I do not have pleasure using 3D Mode:
1. No orientation in 3D mode, do not know which way is North and what direction you are driving in.

2. No scale in 3D mode.

What I love about the device is:
1. the touchscreen,
2. color,
3. blue tooth (actually downloaded my phones address book so I can dial from the address book on the Nuvi.
4. all maps already downloaded in device
5. 6 million POI (I have tried other brands, a basic things like Zoos are not in them, they only have 1M POI.

Just after purchasing the Garmin I went on a trip to Seattle and the San Juan islands. I was traveling by myself. A few weeks prior to the trip I had the second of my cataract surguries. My eyes started acting up shortly after getting off the plane from Atlanta. Blurring, tearing, ect.
I had programmed in my trip on the Garmin before I left and it lierally saved the day. I could not read maps, road signs etc but the step by step voice directions guided me effortlessly for the entire week I was away. It is easy to program, easy to use and it was a great experience in technology taking over the travel program.

Garmin Nuvi are the best GPS navigators in the world, I love them! My first criteria in choosing the GPS navigator is how fast it calculates the route to the destination you choose. In this competition Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Navigator is the best choice.
The other thing I love about my GPS Navigator is that it can show you the map in 2D and 3D. 3D is so much better and it looks cool.
However, I did not like its geeky media player features however when I got used to it I really liked it, mainly because I can upload any music from my computer to the Garmin Nuvi 660 and it will play the music I chose on my car's audio system.
