Wireless controllers, PlayStation Eye cameras, sensor bars and other gadgets have been created to make it easier and more comfortable to play games. However, the newest works of NeurSky amaze everybody. They have created Bio-feedback caps that read your thoughts to help you play your favorite games. Emotiv Systems, CyberLearing and NeurSky are the companies that are trying to develop such systems as thought- controlled gaming. They offer electrode - laced headsets that will help you affect the gameplay by reading the brain impulses.
The caps will supposedly make your PC gaming experience more eventful and more fun. You would be able to use your emotions when playing games. The thoughts would be read by a special cap that reads electromagnetic impulses of your brain.
How it really works? Some science is needed here. They use technologies such as electrooculography (EOG) which is responsible of measuring the changes in the retina. The other technology that they used is electromyography (EMG) and this thing is responsible of recording muscular movements and twitches. Many big words but it is simple: electromagnetic impulses and your movements help you to control the car or your character in the game.
However, you need to learn how to play using this gadget because it is also difficult to do. For example: if you are nervous GTA player you will have hard time aiming at people because the impulses the you make are very strong and the aim will be jumping around. On the other hand a calm daydreamer will have troubles with playing Gran Turismo, especially in achieving the top speeds.
It would be very hard to adjust your brain work and the Bio-feedback cap to each other but once you have done it you will be able to enjoy playing using only your brain. This might help people that suffer from physical injuries.
It is still in development and maybe soon we will see such gadgets on the market. However, they have a lot of work to do before they reach high enough level of productivity.
