As you understood this camera will not shoot when somebody's eyes are closed. There are many pictures where people are closing their eyes just as you push the shutter button. And your picture is ruined because some fool has his eyes half opened and looks like he is half asleep. Well, seriously nobody would want to be that person so Canon has invented new technology and they are going to use it in their cameras.Blink Shot cameras will not shoot until everyone opens his eyes. So you will not have to take a picture twice just because somebody blinked. The Blink Shot technology will not make your Canon camera a super gadget but it will help you in some way.
Although there is no information when we are going to see this technology in cameras this is a pretty good idea and we are going to be waiting for them to appear. It would be a nice addition to Canon's good optics.
This is not a bad feature; however having your eyes opened is not enough. How about those cases when people do not look at the camera? This would ruin your picture too. So they need to make some new technology for their gadget cameras.
