Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 made especially for Windows Vista

Feb 27, 2007

Finally when Vista software is out on the market the Microsoft Corporation has released its new wireless mouse and keyboard. The Microsoft Wireless Entertainment desktop 7000 is a set of a keyboard and rechargeable mouse.

The mouse is the Microsoft's first rechargeable mouse and they have made it great. First of all, the mouse and the keyboard work using Bluetooth technology. They can work from up to 30 feet away from you computer. Not bad for a keyboard, huh.

Why is it made for Vista? Additional buttons like multimedia and some gadget buttons are placed on the keyboard. These buttons will work only with Windows Vista because only Vista has a "gadget" side-bar. And there are a lot of them, in addition to multimedia buttons that have become usual for a keyboard. The multimedia buttons will let you remotely control all the devices that are connected using Windows Media Center; this makes your keyboard a cool remote control.

Mouse keys are specially created for Vista too. For example, pushing the middle button (scroll) will let you see the thumbnails of all the windows that you have opened. The other cool function that is added: You can magnify a portion of the screen. This will help you when viewing some pictures, or reading small fonts.

Being made in grey colors the keyboard and the mouse will match any computer white or black. Besides, the keyboard is made thin and the buttons are pressed easily and don't make much noise.

The first rechargeable mouse made by Microsoft? Yes it is. The mouse has a rechargeable battery and you can charge it when you do not use the mouse. I think that would be at night, or when you are at work.

Apart from the price and fanciness...I experienced latancy, lag and missing characters every couple of minutes...I got it refunded from a tough supplier and never dared to try another one, actually tried all solutions in my disposal to get it fixed, different ranges, different pcs, laptops and different BT dongles and batteries...so if this is a common experience avoid it seriously...no matter how MS is a respected brand

Over priced junk.
The ads say it works with Vista and XP. It especially does not work on laptops, which is one reason people buy wireless keyboards and mice. The problem is, this trash wants you to uninstall the host keyboard driver. This is ludicrous. Any decent wireless keyboard and mouse package should work with the existing keyboard driver. Can't this thing recognize itself? Besides, wireless devices have problems occasionally - especially BT devices - that require use of original keyboards etc. Obviously I am not satisfied with this piece of #$%@$ junk.

Wireless mice and keyboards are not so good for gaming. THey have bigger latency! I am not sure about this Microsoft intertainment desktop but this is what i think of all of them.

MickY G, Are you using Windows Vista??? This is the first question... If yes then you should have not problems using the gadget button! These keyboard and mouse are made for Microsoft Windows Vista so it can't do anything wrong. Except if Indian programmers didn't mess up anyghing. It is even called: Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000

Love the set but can't get the gadget button to do anything? Is there a problem with this? I have installed the correct drivers but hitting the gadget button does nothing. I don't even know what it should do? Have just simply set it to open the Live Gadgets page online as it obviously doesn't want to do what it is supposed to do?

I think that this keyboard is resonably priced and i think that it is worth the money they ask for it. I use both the keyboard and mouse and have no problems with them at all. My old wireless mouse was working good and then at some point it just stopped working on the distances more than 2-3 feet from the base, it's ridiculous! Now I use Microsoft one and i love it. It is not a real "gamer's mouse" but it is enough for what I do on my computer

I also found the touch pad very usuful when you just want to move the pointing short distance. The mouse is very precise and rechargeable.I like this keyboard because it's so thin and light weight. It saves a lot of space on my small computer table.
If you are looking for a good wireless keyboard & mouse Microsoft 7000 is the one to get. This keyboard is the best. I own many keyboards and this one is awesome. Installation was a breeze no problem. I order the logitech diNovo Edge and i had a lot of problem i had to send it back, but i am happy with my Microsoft Entertainment Desktop 7000. Get this keyboard and mouse, you will love it. Their best advantage is that they almost have no bluetooth lag.

You could have checked the price out by clicking the "Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop". Currently it costs $ 112.48 so if you want to get one, suit yourself. Oh, by the way I have got this keyboard and mouse, and I love it. The keyboard has no Bluetooth lags and it supports fast 10 finger typing. It did not skip any letters when I was typing this message :).
Its slim shape is really comfortable in those moments when you want to put your keyboard on the lap and type sitting in your armchair. Besides, there is a touchpad in the right upper corner that is supposed to replace the mouse in such situations. It works but its sensitivity is not that good, however, you can use it because it is better than taking your mouse and trying to work with it on your lap.
The mouse works perfect for the everyday's use, it has a bit of Bluetooth lag but you will only notice it when playing games. I don’t play games and love this mouse. When I first saw Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop I looked at the mouse. Being symmetrical I did not believe that it would be ergonomic enough. However, the so called ergonomic non symmetrical mice will lose their ergonomic name when compared to this wireless mouse.
I don't regret that I bought the Wireless Entertainment Desktop because it works very nicely. Besides, additional Vista buttons give me more comfort.
