Protected bike seat

Feb 04, 2007
Are you taking your bike seat with you when you have to leave you bike in some place? Nobody wants their bikes to be stolen so we lock them to something. However, there is always a chance that your bike seat will be stolen. So what people do? They take the seat with them.

With the new gadget you will not have to carry your bike seat with you anymore because it is protected. It has a U shaped bar on its back so you can lock it to your back wheel.

How you do that? You push the button and the seat bends backwards towards the back wheel. Then you can secure the U bar around the wheel. This way you secure two parts of your bike, which are the seat and the back wheel. So you protect two of the most important parts of your bike.

However, even having this gadget you leave the rest of you bike unprotected so you will have to have some usual locks to lock it to a poll or something like that. Well, hey, you will not have to carry your seat around anymore.

The other problem that might appear with this gadget is whether the seat is comfortable. I would actually carry around my very comfortable seat all day long then to be sore from a 2 mile ride every day. I think that they can produce more types of seats that have the U bar so that you are able to choose the one you like and still feel safe for your bike seat.

This gadget is still a concept yet but I hope that somebody will really start producing seats like this one.

Have you seen the quick release seat lock. I bought it and it works great. It works just like a regular quick release but this one and a locking device right in it. No more carrying my seat to class. Check it out at www.saveyourseatlock.com
