It is about time they have built in something more than just video recording into a digital camera. There already are some cameras like that and now the Russian company Rover Computers has presented a compact digital camera Rover Shot P500 Z. This Camera is different from most of the cameras thanks to its functions.The functions of this camera are:
- Taking photos (It would not be called camera otherwise)
- Shooting videos (What a modern camera without video – shooting feature?)
- MP3 player
- Audio Memo recorder
- Can be used as a flash card.
Taking pictures is the main feature of this gadget so it does a pretty good job on doing that. Its lens is a Pentax lens. Pentax is one of the best companies producing lenses and other optical instruments. It is a high quality 3 X zoom lens for better quality. The camera itself makes 5 Mega pixel photos.
Video – shooting is also a feature that any gadget camera has to have. RoverShot P500 Z is taking a pretty good quality video that is coded in MPEG 4. This format has become very popular lately and has replaced such formats as .agp, MPEG 2. The videos are made with resolution 320 x 240 pixels and the frame rate is 30 frames per second. Maybe the resolution is not very high but the frame rate of 30 fps is really good.
The other "important" feature this camera has is the ability to listen MP3 files. You can use it just like a regular Mp3 player, except it is bigger, however it has more functions. You can download music from your computer and listen to it when you are on the go. There are two ways you can listen to it: either headphones or built in speaker. The headphones come with the camera when you buy it.
MP3 is not the only twist this gadget has. It can also record Voice memos so you don't forget to buy something when in the store. At first sight these features seem to be useless but what should you do when you are bored on your way home in the bus. Or what should you do when you need to remember somebody's name and don't have a pen around. Well if you carry this gadget with you it will help you with that.
This gadget camera has a 2.4 inch LCD display which is a standard good size display for a camera like this. It has 32 MB of internal memory, but it will not be enough if you want to download some album into it. This is why there is a slot compatible with SD and MMC flash cards. This gadget can support up to 1 GB flash cards.
Flash of this camera is not something extraordinary but it is still OK. Its radius is from 0.9 to 2.5 meters.
You can always download data to the computer and from it using a USB interface. Besides, you can print the pictures connecting Rover Shot directly to the printer using the same USB interface. There is also a feature that will allow you to view the pictures and videos on the big screen of your TV.
Its body is metal and that means that it is more reliable and destructions resistible than the plastic ones. This is why it is more suitable for the travelers and extreme sports people. Rover Shot is not very big: its sizes are: 102 x 59 x 28 mm and it weighs only 136 grams.
