When you are watching movies, you want that interesting feeling of presence, feeling that all that is shown on the screen is happening around you. That is what Surround Sound Systems are for. However, we are all accustomed to 5.1 or 7.1 sound systems and do not think that it is something special. People need some higher level of interaction, something that will truly bring ultimate feeling of presence... Maybe this actuator chairs is what the movie lovers want?D-Box produced a couple of nice chairs. On the first look they are nothing but usual. However, they are not! They are equipped with multiple actuators that can react to movie events. Sort of Force Feedback, only much more efficient.
D-Box engineers program the movements of the chair when you are watching specially modified movies ready for you to download. Therefore, when you see explosion, you will not only hear it, you will feel it too! When the hero is driving off-road and the car jumps - you will feel that landing for sure. The chairs come in two variations – cheaper two-axes version called Quest, and more expensive three-axes version, X3me. Each of these chairs can produces acceleration up to 2 Gs and 100 movements per second, so no bump will be unnoticed. Of course, everything depends on how carefully the movie was engineered; unfortunately, these effects are only available in the specially modified movies, so the choice is limited.
It may be interesting to feel what happens in the movie, but the price for this chairs a bit high - 9000 dollars for the Quest model and 13110 dollars for X3me. So think over when planning to buy some of these – especially taking account of limited amount of feedback-enabled movies.
