I am a gadget freak. I love gadgets. Over the past one year I have purchased quite a few gizmos - a new mobile phone, digital camera, Wi-Fi for office, an SD Wi-Fi card etc. The latest in the list: i-mate JAMin - a Windows Mobile Pocket PC phone. Owning a Windows Mobile phone had been my dream ever since I worked on one at Magnet, my first job!

You know when things are bad when you are now no longer buying gadgets for yourself and begin to start justifying gadgets by buying them for your wife. Well in this case her previous phone got stolen (my fault - left the car door open).

The device is bigger than a Blackberry phone. It is more attractive than any sliding-keyboard smartphones out there. It is one of the most ideal phones for business professionals and fashion freaks because it is equipped with lots of modern features.

Of course, the news comes smashed in with word that quite a few more notable smartphone manufacturers (such as HTC, i-mate, and HP) are also gearing up to release GPS-enabled handsets in the near future, and while Garmin is no stranger to the mobile GPS realm, this would be (relatively, at least) new territory for ole TomTom. Beyond that, details are scant, but we'll be sure to keep an ear to the ground
