Headlights on your shoes

Apr 14, 2008
In case you really like walking down the streets at midnight or you are just afraid of darkness, given gadget designed by Feijun Chen and Bin Zhao will be useful enough for you. The title of this post is quite an informative one, so I think you've already understood what it is going to be about.

This invention named Pioneer represents a concept shoe that converts kinetic walking energy into electrical one. The functioning of the whole system is ensured by the help of a tiny battery that charges up with each step and can keep the headlights on for a full 12 hours straight dispersing light at 1.5 meters. Thus the system is self-sufficient, so the only think you have to do is walking.

Although the aesthetic design seems to be quite simple, it's purposeful. The material these shoes are made of is a waterproof one, yet it's designed in such a way that makes you feet breathe. As for the sole it is made of solid rubber in order to absorb shock and to shield your foot from weird electrical happenings. Moreover there is a switch from behind that will prevent you from walking with headlights at daytime or indoors.

An obvious advantage of the gadget is its self-sufficiency; however I don't think that many people will tend to buy it, because it seems to be funny enough, but not practical.

I love this gadget. I like walking at night for exercise. This is so much better than carrying a flashlight which always seem to have dead batteries. The rechargeable battery installed in the shoe is so convienent. They are alos great when it is raining or snowwing because they are woaterproff. Gary Dominicus
