The idea of making planting easier and even environmentally friendlier is not new. The recent machines from MIT students we have seen not long ago is great for plant care, but it is pretty big and it can not actually be used outdoors and on areas as big as fields. There is however an oppositely different gadget. Seedbomb is a designer’s concept for bringing huge areas of dead land back to life. We can’t seriously speak about its pros and cons because we haven’t yet heard it is going to be used somewhere, but we can imagine, right?
Technically Seedbomb isn’t complicated to build or use, which is good of course. As seen on the picture, the body in the shape of a bomb contains smaller transparent capsules. Those are mini greenhouses with a number of seeds inside, soil and water. The idea is to throw Seedbombs about some area in order to plant it easily, fast and effortlessly. It is said that this mechanism is best for dried out areas, abandoned fields or other places that have suffered from ecology downgrade. Can’t argue with it because all it takes to accomplish inoculation is a pack of Seedbombs and a plane. No need to hire people to make all the preparations or heavy machinery to do same work in longer time and burn gallons of fuel. After Seedbombs hit the ground, plants in it use only what they get form the inside of the capsule. By the time when plants get bigger and can’t fit the capsule, it decays as it as made of organic eco-friendly plastic. When it happens – plants are considered to be strong enough to tough out desert or polluted environment hence make it livelier and cleaner in future.
