Electric-driven Bicycle

May 04, 2008
Today, when the prices on gas are getting sky-high, many people started to use bicycles. Ride on bicycle is health-giving procedure, so it will be a good idea to go to work on your bike instead of taking your car. However, the ride can be very exhausting, especially if you need to ride uphill, or the distance is more than a mile. Of course, you can get yourself a scooter, but that will eliminate all health-giving portion of your ride, and it uses gas to work. So, is there a way to help you travel long distances without completely wasting the profit of riding a bike? Of course there is.

This bike is created to help all those unlucky ones, who need to travel long distances and are getting tired quickly. It is called E+ Electric bike, and it looks just like any ordinary mountain bike you have already seen. However, it is not a usual one. It can travel up to 20 miles per hour without the need for you to pedal, thanks to two electric motors, which are beautifully placed in the center of each wheel. On a single charge, this bike can carry you up to 20 miles without any work from your part, and if you combine the engine work with your own, the distance will raise to 40 miles. This bike can surely be used just like an ordinary mountain bike, so if you feel yourself capable of going without any help - you are free to do this. There is no information about additional weight that is caused by two motors attached, but in any case, the behavior of this vehicle will not be different from usual bike.

This bike can be very useful thing to buy if you often travel and want to save money on gas. You can ride it like a usual bike and it will be hard to tell that it is not a regular one. Nevertheless, the prices on this vehicle ($1,100 - $3,495) will make you think twice before choosing this way to save money.

A reasonably regular cyclist can manage 40 miles a day without the heavy motor and battery, and the rider does it, the easier it gets. Electric drive barely overcomes the weight of the bike itself, giving the illusion of easier riding largely as a result of higher coasting momentum, due to added weight. These electric cycles also create a tech waste problem after 5 years or so, when the battery wears out (yes, batteries have a finite number of recharge cycles.) The pure bicycle is a joy, electric bikes are as much a "prison" as a car.

This article is inaccurate. The bike has only one motor, in the rear wheel. The front wheel is where the battery is.
