UK traffic wardens to wield handheld camcorders
The move was reportedly made so that attendants could have "evidence to prove beyond doubt that the penalties its wardens hand out are justified," which sounds like it could cut down on any questionable penalization that disgruntled employees had the power to administer. Additionally, video from the camcorders will be used in cases where wardens are "assaulted or abused" while on the job, and while we're sure it's not part of the plan, the UK government could have miles of footage for its own rendition of COPS should it choose to use it.

Flash-Based Camcorders with Line-In?
've looked through a lot of the high-end flash-based camcorder specs and it just doesn't look like line-in is something that's offered. Even the upcoming 1080i-capable Sanyo VPC-HD1000 doesn't say it has a line-in, even though it inexplicably has a headphone out and a "microphone adapter cable" is a listed in-box accessory.

Macbook Air is Real
irst Macbook Air thought: No Firewire is a bummer, if understandable. It means if I move to an Air for my mobile laptop I'm going to have to ditch my Canon HV20 camcorder for something that copies over USB, like a Sanyo Xacti.

University of Essex developing autonomous model car
Seeking to craft a "driverless model car," the project will reportedly utilize a standard remote control model vehicle, which will be flanked by a PC, camcorder, and a bevy of sensors. Supposedly, the software that will be riding on board will allow the vehicle to be "entirely autonomous" by recognizing obstacles, making tactical decisions, and driving itself around a test track.
