Named BrainPort, this useful gadget announced in 2006 for the first time now offers a special camera making it possible to see the objects surrounding blind people.The BrainPort is designed to send electrical signals taken by a head mounted camera. This wonder working device makes it possible for blind people to be able to read large text. The camera of this high tech device is capable of taking pictures and delivers them to the base unit to be able to decipher signals received.
Once the signals are converted into electrical impulses, the user’s tongue will feel some shivering. However, depending on sensational threshold, blind people can adjust the tongue’s response. This smart vision device is expected to be available next year if everything goes as planned with an expected price tag of 10 000 USD.
