Having a sum of money fairly equal to about half a thousand dollars on a PC means there would be a whole gulf of available variants. There are two extremes that will always make price grow very fast - performance and size. Building a computer for maximum performance can be as price-expanding as making it of extra small dimensions. If neither of these is your case, then for your five or six hundreds you can have a home PC with very good specs and futureproof hardware, or you can have a notebook or a top range netbook. The two most sophisticated alternatives are an all-in-one PC or a mini PC. The first one of two can be pretty well presented by Asus’ Eee Top which is available for pre-order at Amazon since recently.Asus Eee Top is in a class of its own I should say, so deciding on buying it, you should be confident that it will suit you well. First of all, for 599.99 USD Asus Eee Top scores at Amazon, it has a stiflingly weak 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 160 GB HDD, 1 GB GB RAM and 15.6 inches of touch-friendly display. The rest of features are dedicated to touch capabilities, like Opera Touch browser or Easy Mode with large icons (you can see it on the picture). For entertainment Asus Eee Top offers Eee Cinema multimedia center and SRS library manager. Eee Memo is a desktop notepad application with handwriting recognition. Asus got it right with so much touch applications because touchscreen is one of the only redeeming features of Eee Top. No need to get additional webcam by the way, one is already built-in.
Discussing all the specs and features of Eee is captivating, and it should be since you have decided on buying one. But there is one last aspect about Eee Top I am thinking of. All that sense of uncommonness and charisma it has will make people buy it with their heart and soul rather then with cold mind - a rare happening if we speak about computers. Bare with me, Eee Top is the only PC that comes to my mind if I though of one to buy for my girlfriend. At least she will not mind minor hardware if it’s embodied like that.
