A 15 year old wonder child has conceived a green contraption for the generation to come. Called Versatily system, this is the algae-powered energy system which appears to be capable of processing waste, producing both bio oil and methane as a fuel, grow food people and livestock and produce oxygen while eliminating greenhouse gases. Does not it seem to be a perfect solution for our polluted earth? This Texas high school student Javier Fernandez-Han netted 20 000 USD for his conception. Javier Fernandez-Han assures that the modular system is aimed at developing countries like African villages that lack their own natural resources as well as waste disposal systems. The Versatile system turns out to be a village energy reactor operating due to solar algae technology.
The Versatile system happens to be a combination of some advanced technologies and is composed of 6 sub systems including a bio gas upgrader designed to transform gases from the digester into food used for the algae, vented methane burning stoves, an anaerobic digester used for sewage and food scraps, the PlayPump that uses power taken from playing children to power the system, algae bioreactors designed to create algae biomass and oxygen taken from sun light, salt water, and CO2, flush latrines and CO2-capturing device.
A small analog of the system could be built for about 200 USD that might be a perfect solution for your apartment or a small house. The inventor believes it is able to reduce pollution and make fish, goats and pigs more affordable thanks to algae as feed. It seems Javier Fernandez-Han has proved the green world that renewable energy should be a crucial solution for our earth.
