Actually it seems to be a replacement of the spoon by the coffee itself than eleminating. Intended to be a simple solution for diners and less service oriented restaurants, this all in one tubular design holds both the instant coffee and the sugar (or creamer) in one neat package. When the contents of the tube are poured out, you simply use the package itself as a spoon to stir your beverage.
I would say that it's quite a useful invention, though very simple. Doubtless it will become widespread enough, because it really simplifies the procedure of making a coffee mug. However those who like drinking real coffee will hardly find this invention useful. Related:
