It has been a while since we heard from the alternative text input method - Swype. It is one of the fastest ways to type on your hand-held devices. It used an onscreen keyboard and you draw a line connecting the letters of the words.This new idea takes text input to a whole new level, to a whole new concept. 8pen is basically a sqare input area divided into 4 parts with a circle in the middle. You should start and end all the letter inputs on this center dot; however the way you drag your finger is what matters. Drag your finger in clock or anticlockwise directions and depending on which part of the circle you start and end your movement will determine which letter will be written.
You can also program 8pen Application has gesture recognition which you can program to input short answers. You can input a preprogrammed phrase by starting the gesture outside the center circle.
The inventors say that this method will allow users to not only type fast but also blind-type. They claim it to be very “easy to learn” which will allow you to have only the dot on the screen without service information. It also works only on Android 2.2 or later.
